What is Kazaru Sioux ?
Kazaru Sioux is a sustainable eco-resin accessories label solely designed and hand crafted by Brisbane based designer, Lisa Butler, who has a background in costume and jewellery design.
Kazaru is Japanese for "to adorn/decorate" and Sioux, after the designers no.1 icon Siouxsie Sioux who is the epitome of strength, independence and self expression in a non conformist way.
After creating successfully with acrylic perspex off cuts in the 1990's, Lisa wanted to turn her creative hands again towards unique jewellery, but with a more environmentally conscious medium. Discovering a bio-resin product made from recycled industrial plant material was the perfect choice, as it could be hand coloured and casted in any shape imaginable, and be sustainable as well.
Many of Lisa's creations are influenced by the 1980's New Wave, Post punk and avant garde styles that feature colour-blocking, geometric and Art Deco shapes and lines.
A complex hand created multi cast inlay technique is used to achieve a vintage bakelite look.
The collections are small runs, but Lisa is open to custom make a favourite piece that you may have missed out on, or create a current product in your preferred colours.
